Dr. Mahavir Oza

I was introduced to the lifelong commitment of serving cows at a very early age. My father Shri Bhawanishankerji Oza introduced me to the importance of the native Indian breed of cows and its role in one’s spiritual development. Working to improve the lives of these innocent, abandoned animals, solidified my commitment to serve and sustain a full-fledged Gaushala. I strongly believe in building and expanding programs and services that keep people and pets together while strengthening the human-animals bond. Most importantly, I love to see the staff and volunteers succeed. The staff and volunteers are the backbone of any organization, and without them, the organization cannot succeed.

I was blessed with parents that were kind, loving and caring to humans and animals alike. My mother, Chandanji Joshi, unconditionally loved and served animals, and my father, Shri Baijnathji Joshi, supported and endorsed several charities. I was also privileged to marry my husband, who supported my passion for education and providing care for helpless animals. His philanthropic work to save cows in India fueled my passion even further. My unique background of law and science, has given me a platform to apply the knowledge on how animals welfare organizations could be effectively run while making a larger impact and saving more lives. My favorite part of this job is getting to know our inspirational supporters — many of whom have been with Helpless Animals Life Project for decades.

As long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in animals. As a kid, I used to see my grandpa and dad lovingly spending all their free time devoting to serve cows. I was lucky enough to travel and see these animals for myself. I was intrigued to see and experience life on the farm with all the animals. Cows had feelings and personalities of their own, but few people seemed to care. I made a commitment along with my parents to support, nurture and protect these innocent, loving animals! We know the future holds lots of exciting developments and no doubt a few challenges for these beloved and sacred animals, and we hope you'll be right there with us to support them!
